The Daffodil International University (DIU) Air Rover Scout Group has once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to humanitarian causes by extending a helping hand to the flood-affected communities of Lakshmipur. On 13 September 2024, the group carried out a generous relief effort, distributing essential supplies to over 100 families in the heavily flood-ravaged areas of West Mandari and Mandari Union in Sadar Upazila, as well as Raipur Upazila of Lakshmipur district. The relief package included dry food, rice, pulses, potatoes, medicines, and other necessary items aimed at meeting the immediate needs of those struggling in the wake of the disaster. In addition to the food aid, clothing was distributed to approximately 300 underprivileged and distressed individuals, providing much-needed comfort and relief to those affected. The team also contributed 10 clothing guides to the Lakshmipur District Commissioner's office, bolstering local relief efforts.
This relief mission follows an earlier initiative that began on 22 August 2024, when the DIU Air Rover Scout Group responded to the severe flooding in the Feni district. In partnership with the Feni district administration, the DIU Air Rover Scouts, along with other local scouts and students, played a pivotal role in both relief collection and distribution. Their work included the crucial task of restoring communication in isolated areas by establishing emergency channels via amateur radios, which greatly facilitated the coordination of relief activities in the region.
In addition to their immediate aid efforts, the DIU Air Rover Scout Group remains committed to supporting post-flood recovery initiatives in these hard-hit regions. Their ongoing dedication ensures that affected families can quickly regain stability and return to their normal lives. The scouts have pledged to continue their humanitarian work, emphasizing long-term rehabilitation efforts to assist flood victims in rebuilding their lives.
