About Us

There are more than 28 million Scouts, young people and adults, male and female, in 160 countries and territories. Some 300 million people have been Scouts, including prominent people in every field. This is impressive considering that Scouting began with 20 boys and an experimental camp in 1907. It was held during the first nine days of August in 1907 at Brownsea Island, near Poole in Dorset, England. The camp was a great success and proved to its organiser, Robert Baden-Powell, that his training and methods appealed to young people and really worked.

DIU Air Rover Scout Group Extends Support to Flood Victims of Lakshmipur

The Daffodil International University (DIU) Air Rover Scout Group has once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to humanitarian causes by extending a helping hand to the flood-affected communities of Lakshmipur. On 13 September 2024, the group carried out a generous relief effort, distributing essential supplies to over 100 families in the heavily flood-ravaged areas of West Mandari and Mandari Union in Sadar Upazila, as well as Raipur Upazila of Lakshmipur district. The relief package included dry food, rice, pulses, potatoes, medicines, and other necessary items aimed at meeting the immediate needs of those struggling in the wake of the disaster. In addition to the food aid, clothing was distributed to approximately 300 underprivileged and distressed individuals, providing much-needed comfort and relief to those affected. The team also contributed 10 clothing guides to the Lakshmipur District Commissioner's office, bolstering local relief efforts.

This relief mission follows an earlier initiative that began on 22 August 2024, when the DIU Air Rover Scout Group responded to the severe flooding in the Feni district. In partnership with the Feni district administration, the DIU Air Rover Scouts, along with other local scouts and students, played a pivotal role in both relief collection and distribution. Their work included the crucial task of restoring communication in isolated areas by establishing emergency channels via amateur radios, which greatly facilitated the coordination of relief activities in the region.

In addition to their immediate aid efforts, the DIU Air Rover Scout Group remains committed to supporting post-flood recovery initiatives in these hard-hit regions. Their ongoing dedication ensures that affected families can quickly regain stability and return to their normal lives. The scouts have pledged to continue their humanitarian work, emphasizing long-term rehabilitation efforts to assist flood victims in rebuilding their lives.

The tireless efforts of the DIU Air Rover Scouts underscore the strength of community solidarity and the vital role of youth engagement in times of crisis. Their dedication to serving others in need continues to have a profound impact on the lives of those affected, reaffirming their commitment to humanitarian work, both now and in the future.

DIU Air Rover Scout Group Distributes Tree Saplings

The Daffodil International University (DIU) Air Rover Scout Group recently took a significant step towards environmental conservation by distributing tree saplings among its members. This initiative was supported by Mr. Md. Shafiqul Islam, Leader Trainer, and Deputy Regional Commissioner (Training) of Bangladesh Scouts Air Region, who provided the saplings during the 17th Oath Camp held at the Regional Scout Training Center in Pullerhat, Jessore.

The Rover Scouts will plant these saplings in their respective homes, where they will nurture and care for them, contributing to a greener environment. This effort is part of the ongoing commitment of the DIU Air Rover Scout Group to promote sustainable practices and environmental stewardship among its members.

Planting trees is not just an act of adding greenery to our surroundings; it is a vital measure in combating environmental degradation. Trees absorb carbon dioxide—a significant greenhouse gas—and help reduce pollution levels in the atmosphere. By planting more trees, we actively participate in preserving the planet and ensuring a healthier, more sustainable future for all living beings.

This initiative highlights the crucial role that trees play in maintaining ecological balance and underscores the responsibility of each individual in protecting the environment. As we continue to plant and care for trees, we contribute to the well-being of our planet and the preservation of life on Earth.
